The updated 2024 ABPI Code of Practice
The Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Authority (PMCPA) in the UK has launched the updated 2024 ABPI (Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry) Code of Practice. The update aims to improve transparency and ethical practices within the pharmaceutical industry in the UK. One key change includes a revised Clause 12, which provides healthcare professionals with QR codes for easy access to prescribing information. The 2024 ABPI Code of Practice will come into effect on 1 October 2024. To find out more about the guideline, join Jayne Packham in her free webinar on 27 September where she will explain how the updated ABPI Code of Practice can impact the MedComms industry.

The opportunities of publication planning for medical devices
The latest article published in the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) MAP Newsletter discusses the necessity of publication planning in the medical device industry, a sector often overlooked despite its crucial role in healthcare. While the pharmaceutical industry has widely adopted publication planning practices like the Good Publication Practice (GPP 2022) guidelines, the medical device industry lags behind.
The authors suggest that the recent implementation of the EU MDR (European Union Medical Device Directive) presents an opportunity to encourage the adoption of traditional publication planning for medical devices. The article also provides six tips for partnering with medical device companies to create long-term publication strategies tailored to their needs.
The Health House announces a multi-agency collaboration
The Health House, a new collaborative network of 25 independent specialist agencies in health, pharma and biotechnology, has been launched with the goal of creating a larger impact through collective effort. The Health House comprises agencies with a combined staff of over 250, each selected for their complementary services and skills, which range from writing and design to video and development. A key aim of the alliance is to provide support and assistance to each founder, with a planned three-day workshop retreat in September 2024 for members to connect and discuss industry challenges.
