I’m passionate about science and technology. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Physiology from Massey University, and a subsequent Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Technology through Otago University. I have worked for pharmaceutical companies purifying native antigens for the diagnosis of rare muscle diseases, writing standard operating procedures and working in quality assurance. Outside of my professional life, I’m a mother of four, enjoy mountain biking and am an award-winning pencil artist, with my work exhibited by Parliament and the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.

I have three publications that are private property of pharmaceutical and research companies. They were on:
- The effects of different feeding regimes on Hapuku Larvae growth – a histology research project
- The stability of purified auto-antigens in autoimmune disease diagnosis through consecutive freeze-thaw cycles – an accelerated stability research project
- The stability of purified auto-antigens in autoimmune disease diagnosis at different temperatures – a stability research project.
